Practical Placement

  • Practical placement, as explained by the Victorian Department of Education and Training, is structured workplace learning that provides students with firsthand experience and on the job, training relating to their course. It is an opportunity for students to implement the skills they are learning about, gain confidence with their future role within their chosen industry and develop their job-related skills.

  • Students are required to demonstrate their skills in a short placement of 120 hours. This placement can take place in the students workplace if they can demonstrate all required skills.

  • Placement is designed to allow students to complete the full 120 hours within the course duration. It is structured to give students the opportunity to apply the strategies and techniques they learn throughout the course in a real-world setting.

This approach helps students build on their knowledge and skills, boosting both their abilities and confidence, with mentors available to provide support during the placement.
