At FYI Training we understand that each person learns their own way, that’s why we offer different options with how our students want to complete their course. We are committed to providing a high-quality learning experience for students regardless of their mode of study.
Each course info page will specify which modes of study are available for that course.

Full Time Study
About This Mode of Study
This is delivered as a face-to-face classroom based option for students who prefer to come to class in-person.
Duration, days & Times
All course durations and classes per week vary depending on the qualification, this information is specified on each course page.
Aside from our First Aid courses, all other classes will run on select days between Monday - Friday. Day classes run from 9:30am - 3:00pm, while night classes run from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
Trainers / Assessors
Being an in-person mode of study, students have access to their trainers while they are in class. Additionally they can communicate with their trainers via phone or email any time they need additional support.
Student Support
Our student support team is located on-site, making it easy for students to approach them whenever they are attending classes. Just like their trainers, if a student requires additional support they can contact the student support team via phone or email.
Distanced Based Study
About This Mode of Study
This mode of study is perfect for those that prefer to learn at their own pace or who are working while studying. Students are required to submit a minimum of one unit per month and their allocated trainer will deliver their units online.
Duration, days & Times
All course durations vary depending on the amount of units in each course and how long students take to complete each unit. As stated above, students are required to submit a minimum of one unit per month. The only time students will need to attend a class is when/if they need to complete First Aid as part of their qualification.
Students will also need to attend practical placement as per their course requirements.

As an FYI Training student, you can communicate with your trainer via email or phone for extra support.

Student Entry Requirements and Induction

As part of the Pre-Training Review, we will assess your level of digital literacy by:
Asking you to undertake a self-assessment quiz.
Discussing the quiz outcomes with you.
Making recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you as well as identifying areas that require additional support.

You will access your learning materials using the Catapult learning management system or via email depending on the course and unit of competency you are undertaking. The following are the minimum information technology requirements for you to access your course materials:
A desktop or laptop computer, however many aspects of the course can be accessed via smartphone or tablet.
Microsoft Office 2003 or later.
A reliable internet connection with the latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari

FYI Training ensures learning materials are presented in a variety of formats to optimise the learning experience, including:
Interactive weekly classes (For Early childhood classes)
Videos
Handouts
Presentations
Online portal

FYI Training provides simulation experiences and study days in the classroom to engage with other students and your trainer.
Ongoing feedback will be provided as you study through:
Interaction with teachers via email, phone calls, face to face meetings and via zoom.
Detailed feedback on your assessments.
The student support team is there to help also. We monitor your participation and engagement with your trainer. If it looks like you may need some help, we will contact you by email, phone, or SMS.

Forms of assessment will vary per course and per unit but will include a combination of the following:
Observation
Written assessment
Third party report
Workplace tasks
Where students are asked to demonstrate competency in practical skills, this will either done at work placement or in the classroom via simulation depending on the unit of competency.

All trainers and assessors delivering online courses at FYI Training undertake professional development in online delivery, as well as formal current teaching qualifications and current industry experience in their field of expertise.
Online Study
About This Mode of Study
This mode of study works great for those who would like our distance-based model of learning but with more regular support. It’s also a good option for those who are working and don’t have the availability to attend class in-person. With our online study mode of learning students attend online classes via video call.
Duration, days & Times
All course durations vary depending on the qualification. Classes consist of an online class one night per week with your allocated trainer and other students completing the same course.
The only time students will need to attend a in-person class is when/if they need to complete First Aid as part of their qualification.
Students will also need to attend practical placement as per their course requirements.

As an FYI Training student, in addition to the weekly online class, you can communicate with your trainer via email or phone for extra support.

Traineeships
About This Mode of Study
Traineeships are for students who are already employed in their desired industry and are arranged by their employer. If you are interested in completing a qualification via a traineeship you will need to speak with your employer.
