Overview

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is a nationally recognised qualification for those that are wanting to upskill or would like to rise to a more senior role within an Early Childhood Education and Care Centre, Kindergarten, or other Child Care facility. Graduates would be responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in their respective services and work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care service National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. Graduates may also have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

This course is ideal for those looking to further develop their skills in the early childhood industry.

Pathways

Upon completion of this qualification, candidates may seek to enrol into a higher qualification within a similar discipline, an example of this is the Bachelor of Education (Early childhood) undergraduate degree.

FYI training has a study pathway which gives students credit towards the Bachelor of Education (Early childhood) at Swinburne University, however all students are encouraged to research the appropriate course and provider for them.


Modes of Study

Full Time

Full-time face to face classroom and practicum-based course

Duration: 10 - 12 months

Classes: 1 day per week (9:30am – 3:00pm)

Online

Attend online classes with your allocated trainer

Duration: 12 - 18 months

Classes: 1 night per week

Distance Based

Study at your own pace online with the support of an allocated trainer

Students must submit a minimum of 1 unit per month

Duration: 12 - 18 months

Traineeship

Learn on the job while studying with the support of an allocated trainer

Duration: 1 - 2 years

All modes of study require students to complete practical placement throughout the duration of the course.

We will arrange a practical placement host employer for all students (except traineeship students as they utilise their work hours for this)
