Meet our student Silvana who has recently graduated from her Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care.

How does it feel having finished your Diploma?

“So good, I mean so god that I don’t have to do anymore assessments and submissions haha.”

What made you start studying?

“I always wanted to get into childcare but I was a young single mum and I didn’t have a chance when I was younger to get into the industry…I then saw an ad from FYI & saw it was an opportunity to get into it.”

The best parts about studying at FYI?

“Just having good team behind you and the support. Andrea was fantastic, in all the submissions she really helped me through them. She was fantastic. She makes the time of the day to help you out. you can contact her anytime she will get back to you. And ask you what you need help with. I came in a few times and she helped me out. She has real patience to help students.”

What advice do you have for other students?

“Give it a go. Nothing is too hard these days. Most of my course was through zoom and yeah there was times where it was challenging… but you still get through it.”

 What are you passionate about?

“Working with children. I love all the funny things that the children come up with. It makes you laugh.”

 When dealing with children in difficult circumstances:

“My real experience working with children has been challenging. Working with an autistic child has been a bit challenging. I have learnt to be calm, get the child to show you their needs and just be with them.”
