Career tips & how to choose the right pathway…

We could go on forever here, but instead we will share our favourite pieces of advice every month hoping to inspire you to take action toward a career path that brings you joy.

Considering a new career path isn’t always easy so here are some tips & motivation:

-          Start wherever you are because that’s the best place to start. You don’t need anything beside the idea and you can make it a reality. Don’t worry if you didn’t finish school, if English is a second language English or don’t know much about this career path idea.

-          Educate yourself first. Be open to learning and finding new ways to learn. Take initiative and research to educate yourself about this career path and see if you can find information.

-          Make small steps & don’t stress about the big ones or big picture, create small steps for your vision so you can start moving toward it in a more achievable way.

-          Use your network and don’t be scared to step outside your comfort zone in this process. If it’s not something that comes natural to you, don’t worry, many people struggle to network. But you never know until you try, and people can be the fastest best way to connect your vision together.

-          Create a Career Plan, not sure what this is, check out our other blog.

Some helpful questions to ask and consider before starting a course are below;

  • Can I see myself in any of the career pathways?

  • Am I passionate about this industry or the types of jobs in this industry?

  • Do I know anyone who works in this profession I can talk to and find out more information?

Career advice from our Trainers at FYI:

“Set up a plan of action when you start a course. Identify what spare time you have and be organised. Make sure you communicate and tell us what is happening, especially if you are struggling.” – Amanda, Compliance Manager and Trainer

“As long as your passionate and want to give your best - we can guarantee success. We will make you as job ready as we can. If you commit and have a go, you will be successful.” -  Ned, Managing Director

“Consider the ‘Pathway’ beyond your current course or certificate because this can be a great starting point, for example if you want to be a teacher, it doesn’t stop in your cert III, you can go from here, using credits and study on. There are so many pathway options from our certificates, even management.” Nan, Trainer

“If you’re not that passionate, then this isn’t for you because you need to work hard.” – Haylee, Trainer

 “You can do anything you set your mind to, even without the background or experience there is always a way. Just make a start and don’t be afraid to work hard and keep going especially when it gets tough” – Tia, Marketing Manager

“Follow what’s right in your heart and feels right for you” – Maree, Admin & Student Support Officer
