Thinking of studying the Certificate IV in Leisure & Health? Hear from recent graduate student Irena
Considering a career in Aged Care?
Meet recent graduate Irena who has graduated and already started working in a new role!
Irena has recently graduated from her Certificate IV in Leisure & Health and has shown great passion and dedication throughout her studies. We asked Irena to share a bit about her experience studying with us, check it out below.
How does it feel having finished your course?
“Very good - it was a really good experience.”
What made you start studying?
“I had been working in the Aged Care industry for 7 years as a chef assistant. But I liked what the lifestyle team was doing, seeing all the interaction with everyone, I really liked it. So I spoke to one of the Coordinators at my job and she recommended me to call and ask about studying at FYI where she had studied, and so I did it.”
The best parts about studying at FYI:
“The first thing is the flexibility because of work it was good to study around my work days. Also my trainer Colleen was a lovely teacher and if something was hard to understand, she would always explain it to us. Everyone else in the office also including Ned & Maree were so lovely and whatever you ask for they will help you. Everything is so positive, I have nothing negative to say.”
What advice do you have for other students?
“I would recommend just to do it. I have done something to be proud of. I came from overseas and this is something for me that I have achieved for myself. It is a good industry to work in if you want to help and interact with people.”
Career Goals
“My goal was to start as a lifestyle assistant. But that has happened already, so I am happy.”
What are you passionate about?
“I love cooking and many things really. I love music, I love interacting with people I like helping others.”
